The Panama Canal has always played an important role in the economy not only of Panama but the entire Latin America. Without the Canal, it is highly doubtful if Panama could attain the level of success it already has today.
This has also been one of the targets of destabilizers and terrorists due to its important nature. Thus, ensuring the security of the Canal is an exercise that should be done in cooperation of all nations benefitting from its presence.
